See What Our Happy Clients Are Saying

I have had my hearing checked several times by ENT drs in the past several years but none ever addressed my lack of hearing with a solution that seemed to fit me. My hearing kept getting worse; I could hear sounds but the words seemed mumbled. I had to keep asking those with whom I was having a conversation to repeat what they had said. Sometimes, I would just nod my head in agreement when I had no idea what a friend was saying. Finally, my son recommended Dr Whitehurst. She was most personable and I immediately felt comfortable with her. She tested my hearing, showed me a graph of my responses. She explained what my responses meant and offered solution options. She also let me try a hearing aid she felt would fit my needs. As she spoke, the sounds I heard seemed clearer and more distinct. I was so excited. Then Dr Whitehurst explained in detail how the aids worked using my mobile phone. She ordered my aids and returned to her office for the fitting. Again, she took her time and answered questions I had. She never made me feel rushed. She told me to take the new hearing aids home, pay only 1/2 the cost initially, wear them for a month and make sure the hearing aids made a difference in my hearing. She explained that if I was not completely satisfied, I could return them after the month, she would return them to the manufacturer and she would return the money I had paid. Wow! Not only was Dr Whitehurst professional, but she was also caring and compassionate. Long story short, I returned to Dr Whitehurst's office after wearing my hearing aids for a few weeks and gladly paid the balance of what I owed. Dr Whitehurst spent time that day showing me how to clean the hearing aids and she scheduled a follow up appointment with me in a few months. She explained that I could return to her office anytime before then if I was having a problem. I feel like I have gotten a new lease on life. I no longer have to pretend like I know what my family and friends are saying. I can hear them clearly now, thanks to Dr Whitehurst.

Dr Whitehurst is both personal and professional. I wasn't sure I had a hearing deficit but made an appointment with Dr Whitehurst at the urging of my wife. I have enjoyed my hearing aids for over a year now and my family and I are very happy with the outcome. When I'm not wearing my hearing aids, everything sounds muffled. My quality of life has been greatly improved as a result of better hearing.

Why Get Your Hearing Tested?

As one of your main senses, your hearing health can tell you a story about your overall health. Hearing loss can be an early indicator of many health conditions, like diabetes and circulation conditions. Since hearing loss can be gradual, it is important to get your hearing evaluated regularly, like you do with your eyes or teeth.

Your hearing pathway starts at your ears and ends at your brain. When sounds reach the inner ear, they are converted into a signal that is sent to the brain. So, your hearing health can directly impact your brain health. Studies have consistently shown how hearing loss correlates to cognitive decline and dementia. And people with hearing loss are at higher risk of mental health conditions, like depression. Healthy hearing = healthy brain.

Hearing loss can be very isolating; if you cannot hear what people are saying, then it is very difficult to maintain conversations and if you cannot maintain conversations, then your relationship with loved ones can suffer.

Did you know that certain medications can harm your hearing health? And this includes common over-the-counter medications and antibiotics. Typically, we are told of potential side-effects but no one thinks that medications could cause hearing loss.

It has been shown that someone with hearing loss who ignores their condition can see up to a 26% increase in their healthcare costs after just 2 years. This is because people experience a variety of adverse health effects due to their hearing health, such as falls or other sources of injury.
